Domain Gripping

Domain Gripping is a variation of Domain Forwarding. There is no additional charge for Domain Gripping once Domain Forwarding is chosen, so you can switch it on or off to suit your needs. Gripping creates an 'invisible' frame that holds ("grips") the desired URL, while displaying the content of the site being forwarded to.

With Domain Gripping, your domain name is forwarded to an existing website and a visitor's browser displays your domain name in the address bar rather than the existing website's URL. Gripping is perfect for those who have a long and difficult-to-remember web-address or for those who want to show they have specific websites for each product.

Example:

  • you have a website at www.myisp.com/xyzrestaurant/
  • you forward sandwiches.ca and soups.ca to www.myisp.com/xyzrestaurant/
  • when someone types www.sandwiches.ca or www.soups.ca into the address bar of their Internet browser, they get directed to www.myisp.com/xyzrestaurant/ (i.e. they see the content of the website) but they see "http://www.sandwiches.ca" and "http://www.soups.ca" in their browser's address bar.

Domain Forwarding and Domain Gripping can be selected at the time of registration for new domain registrations or added as a feature to existing domains by logging into your account and selecting Domain Forwarding for your domain under "web settings".

Domain Gripping is free with every registration or renewal.
