Assign Existing Name Servers

If you have been given two or three new name servers to assign to your domain (e.g. ns1.yourhostingprovider.com etc.), utilize this option.

NOTE: This option affect the routing of all services for your domain. Ensure that all services for your domain (website, email etc.) are accounted for on these new name servers before switching. If you have email services with Webnames.ca and would like to retain them, please see this page before updating your name servers

Locking Name Servers to a 3rd Party

The activation of other Webnames services, such as web hosting and email will automatically update the nameservers assigned to the domain to be ns1.webnames.ca etc. This is done so that the necessary DNS records for these services can be automatically applied. If a domain name already has 3rd-party name servers assigned to it, and you would like those name servers to remain in place, even when other Webnames services, such as web hosting or email, are being utilized, we offer an advanced option 'Keep these name servers even when Webnames services are enabled.'. Please contact our Support team to enable this option.

Additionally, you may also save your name server assignments under a profile name for later re-use on other domains.
