Webnames.ca adds new .asia domain extension to its offering
Vancouver, BC, February 19, 2008 - Webnames.ca Inc. is pleased to announce it is an accredited registrar for DotAsia, the new TLD dedicated to the Asia-Pacific region. Landrush for DotAsia begins tomorrow, Wednesday February 20 and runs until March 12, 2008. During the landrush registration phase the general public can apply to register available DotAsia domain names. The launch of DotAsia presents a rare opportunity for domain name entrepreneurs to secure names snapped up long ago in other TLD extensions. It also gives companies the chance to secure cogent names that appeal to the rapidly growing Asia market. In a new twist, the DotAsia registry has partnered with Pool.com to auction names that receive multiple registration requests during the Landrush period. Previous launches have worked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Under the new system potential registrants will be treated equally with the "winner" decided based on their own sense of the value of the domain. The auction format is intended to discourage the warehousing of DotAsia domain names for eventual sale. It is anticipated that many good domain names will go for low prices when put to auction.
Webnames.ca's DotAsia price for Landrush is US $24.95 per year (two year minimum). Registrants may also opt to list Webnames.ca as their Charter Eligibility Declaration contact in fulfillment of DotAsia's presence requirements for an additional fee of US $9.95 per year.
